Chroma Squad released back in 2015 exclusively for PC, which garnered much praise for its take on the tokusatsu genre. After that, it was announced that the system would be coming to other platforms as well, and now we finally have a date for two of them, while another has been confirmed as now being cancelled.

In a press release from Bandai Namco Entertainment, they revealed that Chroma Squad will finally be releasing for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in May. The bad news however is that the previously announced PS Vita version of the game has been cancelled. It is disappointing that it will not be coming to PS Vita, but at least we are still getting the releases on both PS4 and Xbox One.

Inspired by the tokusatsu genre that goes back to Japan, including franchises like Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, Chroma Squad had a lot of controversy prior to release for its similarities to Power Rangers. Saban Brands was not happy, but eventually this was worked out, which can be seen in the description of the game in a new press release from its now publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment.

“In Chroma Squad players take control of five high-flying stunt actors who decide to quit their day jobs and create their own Power Rangers TV show. “

Funnily enough, Bandai Namco Entertainment also just put out the recent disappointment of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Mega Battle, in which this game is supposed to be much better than.

Chroma Squad is a tactical-based RPG that utilizes the team based component of making a TV show in the tokusatsu style, complete with many homages to the past with Super Sentai especially. You can also just go and download the version on Steam right now for PC. However, if you were waiting for the console versions, you can expect to play it sometime this May.
