The Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list is already over 300 games long, but today sees one of the biggest additions to it since the feature first launched over a year ago. Six new games are available to play on Xbox One via Backwards Compatibility, with one being of definite interest to fans of the Assassin’s Creed series.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue first launched alongside the not particularly well liked Assassin’s Creed Unity. Both games hit around the same time, but Rogue was kept on previous generation consoles, only being playable on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Now fans of the series can finally play the game on Xbox One thanks to its addition to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list today.
Along with AC: Rogue come five other games, including one that will be free in a short while through Games with Gold. Borderlands 2 is available today for Backwards Compatibility, but those without the game should probably wait until March when the game will be free to all Xbox Live Gold members. On top of these two come King of Fighters 2002, Necromancer, Moon Diver, and Space Invaders Infinity Gene.
Additions to the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility list come often, but its rare that we see so many games get added all at once anymore. Previously, Microsoft would put together packages of games like this, getting them ready for BC, then holding them for planned release dates. Lately though, the plan has been to just put them out as soon as they are ready. This has led to tons more games being added to the feature, but usually in small trickles.
Despite this, there are still tons of games that fans want on Xbox One Backwards Compatibility, including the highly requested Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. We’ve seen these requests fulfilled in the past, like with GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption, so hopefully more are on the way soon.
