Since they were presented to the world in 2006, Fran and Balthier from Final Fantasy XII have been seen as one of the most charismatic RPG duos. Now the couple of sky pirates could get their own game according to an interview of the developers of The Zodiac Age shared by Square Enix on Twitter.
For the past weeks, the official Final Fantasy account has been tweeting some video clips with producer Hiroaki Kato and director Takashi Katano talking about the development of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. But this time they were asked about their plans for the future, acknowledging the popularity of Fran and Balthier among the fans, and whether there is a chance for a spin-off focused on them.
This is what they had to say: “We will continue to take on feedback from players about FFXII The Zodiac Age, and if we get a lot of players asking for that, we will of course consider it. That’s why we really would like it if you could send us each and every one of your thoughts and feelings concerning the game.”
So there you have it. Make sure to head over Twitter and post your opinion. It seems logical that the company would consider a new game set in the FFXII world, since they recently stated that the PS4 remaster had strong sales. And even before, the developers had already stated that they would consider making a new Final Fantasy set in Ivalice as long as The Zodiac Age was well received. The game entered the latest NPD charts at number 4.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is out now for PS4.
