EA’s FIFA 18 has been the best selling game in the United Kingdom over the first week of the year, ending the nine-week streak of Call of Duty: WWII. This way, Activision’s shooter drops to number 2 unable to surpass the run of Modern Warfare 2, although it did stay the same number of consecutive weeks on top of the list. Still, WWII has proven to rejuvenate the sales of the franchise, performing much better than 2016’s Infinite Warfare.
Impressively, Grand Theft Auto V returns to the top 3, now in its 225th week in the top 40 so far, 191 inside the top 10. But the surprise of the week is probably The Sims 4 version for consoles, which rises to number 6 achieving a new peak, long after its release back in November.
After the busy period of Christmas sales, the titles bundled with consoles such as Super Mario Odissey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or Gran Turismo Sport have suffered the biggest drops in sales.
