Bad news Yakuza fans. Sega has announced that Yakuza 6: Song of Life has been delayed from its previous March 20 release date in the Americas and Europe to April 17.
Considering that it was only just last year that the Yakuza series started to gain more popularity in regions outside of Japan, its a bit disappointing that fans will have to wait awhile longer before they can pick up the series’ latest entry.
Naturally, Sega is aware of this fact, saying that the decision for this delay wasn’t one that was made lightly, but was needed to “line things up for launch.”
That said, the announcement wasn’t all bad news. Sega also announced a demo for Yakuza 6 will be available to download on PlayStation Store on Feb. 27 whose data can be transferred to the full game when it launches.
Here is the full statement about the delay:
“Yakuza 6: The Song of Life‘s release is being moved back a month to April 17. This was a tough business decision we didn’t make lightly. But—with bad news, we also have some good—this gives us more time to line things up for launch, and on February 27, the demo for Yakuza 6 will be available and will allow players to bring their save into the game on release. This will be the first time everyone will have a chance to play the game (a moment we have long been anticipating!) and we can’t wait to hear what you think about it. We have many new plans to reveal over the coming weeks to give you all more insight into the series, so stay tuned!”
At least this delay means newcomers have about an extra month to finish Yakuza 0 and Kiwami.
