Restaurant manager asks customer to leave after her complaints pile up and she posts 1-star review while still dining

It is becoming a regular occurrence to see service industry workers take a stand against difficult patrons, and a recent incident at a local restaurant is a perfect example of why that is a great shift in the industry. A restaurant manager who posts under the username @buddy.love711 on TikTok shared a video detailing how he finally reached his limit with a guest who was making life miserable for his staff.

As reported by the Daily Dot, the video has already gained significant traction, racking up over 100,000 likes as people rally behind the manager and his server. The situation began when a woman reportedly arrived at the restaurant alone and immediately requested to speak with the manager. She was visibly upset because several dishes she remembered from previous visits were no longer on the menu.

The manager explained that the restaurant had actually updated its menu several months ago. It turns out the woman had not visited the establishment in two or three years, which makes her frustration about the menu changes feel pretty unreasonable. Even so, the manager handled it professionally. He reportedly apologized for the confusion and even took the time to personally recommend some other dishes to help her feel more comfortable.

Despite his efforts, the customer continued to linger over the menu, constantly telling the server that she needed more time to decide. As the lunch hour picked up and more customers began to arrive, the manager kept a close eye on the situation. He asked his server, who was already juggling several other tables, to check on the woman periodically.

The manager noticed the woman was reportedly becoming increasingly impatient, especially when she asked the server for a drink refill in a way that signaled she was ready to cause more trouble. Things escalated when the manager received an email complaint from a corporate guest.

He soon discovered that the email was reportedly sent by the same woman sitting in his dining room. In her complaint, she claimed she had been waiting for over 20 minutes and that the server was neglecting her duties.

The manager decided to step in himself to handle the situation. He went to the table and took her order while the server was busy helping a newly seated party of six people. He reportedly even went the extra mile and offered her an entrée that was similar to a dish she had enjoyed in the past. It did not make a difference.

Once the meal was served, she complained that she had not been given bread before her food arrived. The manager noted that the restaurant has never served bread in all the years he has worked with the company. She reportedly then complained that her main course did not taste exactly like the dish that had been discontinued years ago.

At this point, the manager took the main course away from her table and handed her the menu again so she could pick something else. That is when he received another notification on his phone. The customer had posted a one-star Google review while she was still sitting at her table inside the restaurant. In the review, she attacked both the service and the management.

This was the final straw for the manager. He decided it was time to put his foot down. He said, “I’m just gonna fire this customer,” and made it clear that he was not going to force his server to endure any more of this behavior.

He reportedly walked over to the woman, showed her the review she had just posted, and explained that the staff had done everything possible to address her complaints. Because they were clearly unable to meet her expectations, he asked her to leave.

The response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive. Many commenters praised the manager for standing up for his employee, and some even pointed out how strange it is to expect a menu to stay the same after someone has been absent for years. One viewer even noted that showing respect to restaurant workers makes a massive difference, sharing how a chef went out of their way to prepare a special dish during her pregnancy.
