Fans of the long forgotten cel-shaded first person shooter XIII are in for a treat as publisher/development studios Microid and PlayMagic announced that a remake of the classic will be released later this year on November 13 for multiple platforms. The game originally came out in 2003 for the PlayStation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox, and while it flew under the radar it amassed a cult following for it’s intuitive story telling and art style.
For those unaware, the game is about a soldier named Thirteen who is suffering from amnesia and has been accused of murdering the President of the United States. From there Thirteen begins a long journey of what happened to him, and along the way try to survive. The comic art style and narrative was, at the time, revolutionary for an FPS game. Unfortunately it had to contend with the likes of Halo, Half-Life, and Time Splitters, causing it to undersell.
Other than a launch trailer, no actual gameplay was revealed, but with the graphical prowess of today’s consoles and PC’s, we can’t begin to imagine how beautiful and stunning it will look once we get our hands on it. As we said earlier, XIII will launch on November 13 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
