This year’s E3 is now underway, and, as usual, Microsoft’s Xbox presentation is one of the first to kick things off. Among many other game reveals and announcements, a new Minecraft game was revealed during this presentation.
At the Xbox E3 2019 briefing, a new game called Minecraft: Dungeons was revealed, which is being made by the same team that has been working on the original Minecraft. Unlike the original game, this new game isn’t focused on crafting so much as it takes on a more action-adventure approach, centering around taking on dungeons with friends. Though actual details about the game were scant, the game seems to focus on action-adventure gameplay with a top-down, asymmetrical visual style and will allow for the equipping of various items, each of which will have their own stats and abilities, adding an RPG flavor to the gameplay. The game will also feature a strong multi-player component, as it will allow for both local and online four-player co-op.
It seems the Minecraft team has their hands full, as they also recently announced Minecraft Earth, a mobile AR game coming to smart phones. Minecraft: Dungeons will release on both Xbox One and PC and is planned for launch next spring.
