Using a drift and turning it into a boost is a kart racing game staple that veterans of the genre should recognize and know just how important it can be to be successful. Crash Team Racing took this idea and built upon it with something a little different with their Turbo Boost, which has returned yet again in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled as well. This guide will detail just how you can successfully use the Turbo Boost in the game.
How To Get Turbo Boost In Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
In the Mario Kart series, pulling off a successful drift and getting a boost is as simple as holding down the button to drift as long as you can, with the longer you holding it giving you a better boost. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled tries something different, by requiring you to press a secondary button multiple times to increase the level of Turbo Boost you get.
To start, you must execute a Power Slide like we told you about in this guide by holding down R1 on PS4 as you are rounding a corner. While you are sliding, keep an eye on the bottom right hand corner of the screen and you will notice a meter start to fill up. There are actually three different types of meters you can switch between in this game too by simply pressing Triangle or changing it in the menu options.
Regardless of the one you select though, watch the meter and press L1 after a certain point. Depending on how close to the end of the meter you press, the better. You can do this up to three times in a row, with these boosts stacking into one Turbo Boost after you complete the third. Just be careful, as going too far on the meter or pressing too early can end your streak and give you nothing at all.
Turbo Boosts are really the most important mechanic in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled for placing first in races, so make sure to practice as much as you can until you master the right times to execute them.
