Blizzard has yet to slap an official release date on StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, but recently gave fans plenty to look forward to at an MLG event in Anaheim. According to Kotaku, HOTS Lead Designer Dustin Browder says that “We are 99% done, but that last 1%’s a bitch.”
It would come as no big surprise that Blizzard is nearing the finish line on HOTS, as last year at BlizzCon, the developer showed off a portion of the single player Zerg-centric campaign that had the look and feel of a nearly finished product. Blizzard has been showing off new unit types for the multiplayer suite as well, but apparently the final 1% comes down to fine tuning and polish for the title.
“It’s the tuning and polish that really takes us a long time,” said Browder. “We’re getting there. But I don’t know for sure yet when we’ll be done.”
It’s hard to tell exactly when Blizzard plans on releasing Heart of the Swarm. The company which is known for developing to the beat of their own drum, has proven in the past that they have no qualms with pushing back release dates for sake of quality.
