Sony is tapping their community of gamers for ideas on how to redesign the Dual Shock controller on the PlayStation 3. Sony has taken to the PlayStation Blog to ask for fan suggestions about the design of the new controller. Between now and August 15th, PlayStation gamers can head to the PlayStation Blog to share their ideas.

“We want to add to our line-up of Dual Shock 3 colors, but this time wa want you to be the designer,” said Richard Ho, a Product Marketing Manager for Sony.

Some PlayStation fans took offense to the redesign efforts immediately pleading with Community Manager Jeff Rubenstein to not redesign the controller. Rubenstein assured fans: “Everything is on the table at present – as long as it doesn’t mess with the form factor of the actual Dualshock 3 controller. This is strictly aesthetics!”

There are already some great ideas brewing in the PlayStation Community, to add your own, head to the PlayStation Blog.
