Another new month is upon us, which means gamers around the world get a bunch of new, free games from their chosen subscription services. Microsoft’s Xbox Live Games with Gold has four new titles, spread across Xbox One and Xbox 360, and Sony’s PlayStation Plus is there with six fresh games on PS Vita, PS3, and PS4.
Just for fun we like to pit these two sets of games against each other, just to see which members are getting a better value out of their yearly subscription. This is all for fun, it’s not meant to send PS4 players running to Xbox One, or vice versa. And it’s also just based on my opinion. But if you disagree then please let me know in the comments, so we can bicker like school children. It’s time to see who wins PlayStation Plus vs. Xbox Live Games with Gold for August 2017…

The Winner Is…
PS Plus usually wins these things due to a few reasons. Sony often tosses out newer games, sometimes right on their initial release date. They also offer more AAA games month to month, though that’s been less common as of late. Finally, they just always have more games, with two a piece across three platforms. To beat it Xbox Live Games with Gold has to have fresher games and better titles all around. And that’s exactly what they did for August 2017.
Slime Rancher is a brand new game and two of the other three are simply fantastic picks. Bayonetta is one of the best action games of all time, and was woefully underappreciated. Having it out there for free will not only let players try it out, but it will hopefully grow the cult following that the series has developed. Trials Fusion is also a great addition, with its simple but addicting gameplay being a surefire hit for Xbox Live Gold members. PS Plsu has two heavy hitters with Just Cause 3 and the standalone Assassin’s Creed IV DLC, but they fail to live up to what Microsoft put out this month.
