‘Hilariously bad’ or ‘pure music magic’? Justin Bieber’s surprise Eminem cover has fans completely divided

He went straight for Eminem’s hardest lines.

Justin Bieber surprised fans by covering an Eminem rap verse during a recent Twitch live stream. The pop star took on Eminem’s verse from the classic track Forgot About Dre, showing off his rapping skills in a 60-second clip. The performance quickly went viral and split the internet right down the middle.

The song Forgot About Dre comes from Dr. Dre’s 1999 album 2001. Eminem’s verse on this track is known for being very difficult to perform because of its fast flow and complex wordplay. For a pop singer like Bieber to attempt it was a bold move that caught everyone off guard.

According to Reality Tea, Bieber was reportedly practicing for his upcoming Coachella performance while streaming. The clip shows him confidently delivering the lyrics, proving he’s willing to try music styles outside of pop. This isn’t the first time he’s experimented with different genres, but tackling a legendary rap verse is a whole new level.

Fans can’t agree if Bieber nailed it or failed it

The reactions online were split into two camps. Some fans loved the performance and praised Bieber for stepping out of his comfort zone. One fan tweeted, “Absolutely nailed it if you ask me.” Another supporter wrote, “I’m so obsessed with all of this yes way to go Biebs.” “Pure music magic,” another reacted.

Some fans, however, weren’t impressed at all. One person on X wrote, “No lyrics, he’s just yapping.” Another user was even harsher, saying, “This is hilariously bad. He’s having fun, though.” The criticism focused mainly on how well he actually performed the verse compared to the original. Bieber has been active on social media lately, including a mysterious post about feeling overwhelmed.

Some viewers found it funny that Bieber was live-streaming his Coachella practice and getting paid for it. One commenter joked about the situation, pointing out the irony of practicing publicly while earning money. Despite the mixed reactions, many people agreed that Bieber at least deserves credit for having the confidence to try.

The performance showed that Bieber is interested in exploring hip-hop and paying respect to the genre’s history. Whether people think he succeeded or not, the attempt itself got everyone talking. For a pop star of his level, trying something this risky takes guts. Meanwhile, fans can also bid on his famous Peaches car that’s currently up for auction.

The debate continues online with no clear winner. Some fans see it as proof of his versatility, while others think he should stick to what he does best. Either way, the cover achieved one thing for sure—it got people’s attention.
