Bravely Second Guide: How To Level Up Quickly

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Bravely Second is a turn-based RPG through and through, but there are plenty of twists that it brings to the formula that enhances the experience greatly. One of those enhancements is the Brave and Default system, which gives you the ability to take four turns in a row at the risk being unable to attack for another four turns.

However, the risk is absolutely worth it, as if you know what you’re doing then you’ll be able to level up very quickly and avoid having to level grind for too long. What it breaks down to is you going to an area where the enemies are strong enough to give good experience points, but weak enough that you can wipe them out in one turn.

Prior to doing that, press the right shoulder button the 3DS while standing in a field or dungeon to bring up the game’s Autobattle and Encounter Rate settings. What you want to do is set the Autobattle settings to either repeat the attacks you have used in the previous battle or set up your most powerful attacks prior to that via one of the 3 Command Set slots. Make sure that you set 4 attacks for each character. After that, go back a screen and scroll down to the Encounter Rate settings, switching the rate from +/- 0% (standard encounter rate) to +100% (double encounter rate).

If you don’t feel like setting up your attacks prior to starting this process, just head into a battle and hit the left shoulder button 3 times for each character to allow you to select 4 attacks at once. After that you can just hit the y button to turn on Autobattles and you’ll be set from there.

What the previous paragraph will do for you is set up all of your best attacks so that they are unleashed as soon as the battle starts, while also making sure that you hit your next random encounter as quickly as possible. To speed up the process even more, you can press right on the d-pad once to double both enemy and ally attack speed or twice to quadruple it.

The final part of this process is the Bring It On system that is a new feature of Bravely Second. What this does is allow you to immediately take on another wave of enemies without restoring health or BP, so long as you managed to take out all of the enemies in a single turn. The longer you manage to take out the following waves of enemies in one turn the higher the multiplier will go, which allows you to level up much faster than in any other RPG.

That’s it for leveling up quickly in Bravely Second, but be sure to stay tuned for more guides for the game coming soon!
