With the Season of Opulence in Destiny 2 comes another quest to get you started on your way to earning powerful items during the event. The item that will be the catalyst for these rewards is the Chalice of Opulence. But before you start using the chalice to earn loot, you’ll need to find it first through taking on a multi-step quest.
The Chalice of Opulence quest line is started in the Tower. You’ll need to speak with Benedict 99-40 to begin the quest. He is located near the Annex landing zone. He will relay a message from Emperor Calus with an invitation and then you will be sent to Ikora for the second step in the quest.
Ikora will give you a handful of items to start you out on the quest at which point you’ll need to search out another NPC on Nessus. You’re looking for a Barge on Nessus. Simply follow the blue quest markers and it will lead you to barge in Arcadian Valley. On board the barge is another droid named Werner 99-40 who will give you a broken chalice.

At this point your quest is to restore the chalice and you’ll do this by collecting items from fallen enemies. The first thing you’ll need to collect are fragments to restore the item. These fragments are gotten by defeating Cabal type enemies on Nessus. Simply defeat 10 Cabal and you’ll complete this leg of the quest. Cabal aren’t found everywhere on Nessus so you can start by looking at Artifact’s Edge or the Cistern as there are public events in these areas that feature Cabal. The Cistern will have Cabal spawns as well, without the need for a public event.
Once you’ve got the 10 Cabal fragments you’ll need to seek out another enemy type to earn adhesive. The next part of the quest tasks you with dealing 25 final melee blows to Vex enemies without dying. Vex are all over Nessus, but Artifact’s Edge is yet another place where they’ll continually spawn.
Conflux Lost Sector Location
The final step in the Chalice quest is to recover Imperials. These are a Cabal currency which will be used to upgrade the Chalice rune slots. Your first upgrade on the Chalice will be gotten by completing the Lost Sector in the Conflux. The Conflux is located in Arcadian Valley and you’ll need to mow down some Cabal to complete the sector and open the chest. Inside you will get Imperial Currency and the ability to unlock a rune slot for the Chalice of Opulence.
The first unlock will cost you 1000 Imperials and will allow you to unlock the gear archetype slot on the Chalice of Opulence. The invitation questline does continue after you’ve beaten the Lost Sector and unlocked the chalice runes, and are sent back to Werner at Watcher’s Grave
