How Does Wordle Work?

Wordle is a word-guessing game that has taken the world by storm early in 2022. You essentially are tasked to figure out the word of the day based on the letters in the words you submit. When you enter any five-letter word, the game will give you back hints based on their relation to the answer.

You should pay attention to which letters do and don’t exist in the daily Wordle. If your next guess uses letters that were previously ruled out, it would be a waste. The same applies when you enter a word where a yellow letter is placed in the same position as a previous guess.

An advanced way to go about finding out a word is to not use greens in subsequent answers to rule out additional letters. You know the word of the day will contain that letter in its place, but to find out where the yellows go to turn green, you can essentially rule out additional letters.

You can play Wordle for free via the New York Times’ website. A smart device or a PC with browser capability is needed.
