If you’re having trouble stopping the run in Madden 20, there are some things you can try to help you.  One of those strategies is to crash your line to stop the run.  This can be done by shifting your defense into a pinch position to block the middle of the field.  Or you can try to guess a play and select which area of the field you want to protect the run.

To make this play call the play has to have not started yet.  If you’re in the pre-snap you can press the LB/L1 button to bring up the defensive shifts menu and use the left or right stick to make the adjustments.  Guessing a run or pass can be done with the right stick, while defensive shifts will be brought up with the left stick.

How to Crash Line Shift Defense Madden 20

Press the LB or L1 button before the snap and then select your defensive adjustment with the Left and Right sticks.

The settings themselves are pretty self explanatory.  If you want to guess a play you can choose between a right or left run, a run up the middle and a pass.  If you want to simply shift your defense, the pinch will concentrate on the middle of the field, while the spread will cover the field more widely.  Shifting left or right can help stop runs or passes to a specific side.
