If you’re like me, there are lots of little things that you don’t immediately get about Mass Effect: Andromeda. It’s not that they’re complicated or hard to understand, it’s that the game doesn’t take time to explain some of its intricacies to you. This leaves you to either guess what to do, or figure it out via trial and error. Or you Googled it and ended up here. Either way, I’m here to help, so here’s a quick guide on how to use consumables in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
Consumables, in case you weren’t paying attention earlier, are useful little items that you can pick up or buy throughout your adventures in Mass Effect: Andromeda. As the name suggests, these are consumed upon use, so they are one-time bonuses, though you should have a bunch on hand at any time. These consumables can give you special ammo, or a shield boost, or any number of other effects, so how do you use them?
You have to bring up the weapon selection wheel, which will display them at the bottom, below your normal weapons. This can be done by pressing Tab on PC, View on Xbox One (the left middle button where Select used to be), and the Touchpad on PS4. Pressing any of these will bring up the weapon wheel where the consumables are, then you can use the analog stick to pick the one you want to use and hit A, X, or left click.
To change out what consumables are here you need to be in the Loadout menu, which should appear before missions or at a Forward Operating Base. You start with two slots, but can get more by using your AVP to unfreeze more military members, just read the description to find which ones give you more consumables in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
And that’s how to use consumables in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Let us know if you need any other help with the game.
