You’ve completed a campaign mission in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, but you have no idea where the next one is and have found yourself lost. This is by design, because campaign missions are unlocked gradually; not simply after completing a previous one. This guide should help get you back on track.
Raise your clan reputation to unlock additional campaign missions.
It’s that simple: campaign missions are gated by your clan rank, and in the early game it is slow to level. The easiest way to raise it is to take on additional contracts in the sector you are in that are around your current clan reputation. So, if you need to hit reputation rank three, work your way through clan reputation rank two contracts.
There are also yellow markers on the map that indicate quests, and some of these are High Reputation quests. While the High Reward quests also give greater reputation than regular contracts, High Reputation quests drown you in rep.
Just be sure you have your mechs and pilots ready to rock and roll with these: they are usually multi-mission affairs, and can cost a healthy amount of C-Bills in repairs if you go in unprepared. Once you have enough reputation to level up your rank, head to the Home tab in the main menu and look for a transmission on the left.
If you don’t see one, go to the Objective Log in the Operations tab, where available quests are tracked: the campaign mission can sometimes be overwritten by the general “Raise Your Reputation” quest, and that may be why you are not seeing your next campaign mission.
Just rinse and repeat this cycle until you complete the game; easy-peasy. You can even focus on grinding your reputation if you so desire, and then shotgun a bunch of campaign missions back-to-back if that’s your prerogative.
That’s how you progress the campaign in MechWarrior 5. For more guides be sure to keep an eye on our guides page.
