The Artful Escape is a narrative-driven adventure that is slightly altered by player decisions so knowing how to save is important. The game does a really good job of showing players how to platform through the world but more important topics such as if the game autosaves or how to triple jump seem to be mostly glossed over. Luckily, we finished all 28 chapters and know a thing or two about this psychedelic music journey of self-discovery. Here’s everything we know on how to save in The Artful Escape.
How to Save in The Artful Escape
There is no way to perform a manual save in The Artful Escape. Instead, the game will autosave at certain checkpoints throughout each of its 28 chapters so you don’t need to worry about it as much. While this may be disappointing to some fans of the game, there really isn’t much need to manually save as certain decisions can simply be replayed.
Chapter Select is Available From The Start
As mentioned in our guide on how to use the chapter select feature, certain decisions such as how you have altered Francis’ identity can be replayed to see how they affect the story from there. As such, having a manual save is unnecessary as you can make the decision, see how it plays out, then start the chapter again to make a different decision and see how it goes from there. If it’s your first time playing though, we highly recommend just going with the flow as experiencing the story fresh is quite a journey and will be ruined if you start “chapter scrubbing”. From what we played, your decisions are mostly for expressing yourself so there’s no fear of negative effects on the story.
The Artful Escape is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, and PC.
