It is rumored by MCV that Activision is considering  to purchase the publishers of GTA and Red Dead Redemption, Take Two. If the source behind the rumor is correct, it would bring two of the most powerful publishers in gaming today under one roof.  It would put three of largest franchises in gaming Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and World of Warcraft and numerous other franchises under the direction of Activision….Scary.
“There are very strong rumours amongst people at a very senior level within the global business,” an executive told the magazine.
“But they’re not much more than that at the moment – they are just rumours. And, of course, given Activision’s news this week, everyone is now looking to see what their next move is. But you can definitely put two and two together and make four-ish.”
The rumour comes amidst many headlines popping this week for Activision on the back of it’s quarterly earnings conference.  This is still very much a  rumor at this point, but if true, Activision would undoubtedly rule the roost.  With the likes of the franchises listed above, popular sports series like NBA2k, and the possible return of an NFL game once liscenses expired, we could be looking at a gaming landscape predominantly authored by two companies. EA and Activision.
