Assassin’s Creed Rogue Officially Revealed in New Trailer

by Kyle Hanson

Assassin’s Creed Rogue had its existence leaked earlier today and now we get our first real look at the title in the world premiere cinematic trailer. The trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, but it does offer up a ton of new information on the final last-gen Assassin’s Creed game. We also find out the meaning behind the title of the game, as you are literally playing as a rogue Assassin.

For the first time in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, experience the journey of a Templar hunting down his former Assassin brothers.

In Assassin’s Creed Rogue you play as series newcomer Shay, a former Assassin who is set on taking revenge on his former brothers. To do this he joins up with the Assassin’s mortal enemies, the Templars. This will be the first time players will be able to act as a Templar in the series. This should help open up the already fairly deep narrative of Assassin’s Creed allowing for more nuance and intrigue.

Little else has been shared about the game (see update below), but from past rumors and current images we have a decent idea of what’s in store for this upcoming game. The setting is most likely mid-18th century North America, with New York being mentioned in previous rumors. Sailing also seems to play a large role in the adventure, much as it did in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Those missions and areas seemed to be pretty big fan-favorites, so it makes sense that Ubisoft would bring them back for this title.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be released for PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 11th, which is only a couple of weeks after the debut of the PS4, Xbox One, and PC game Assassin’s Creed Unity. Fans of the series are in for a pretty crazy holiday season with both titles hitting so close together.

UPDATE: Ubisoft has released more information about Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Some of which confirms the older info above, such as the game being set in mid-18th century North America. Specifically during the Seven Years’ War. Players will be able to explore regions like the North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley, and New York. The full name of the protagonist is Shay Patrick Cormac. This game will complete the Assassin’s Creed North American saga, which began in Assassin’s Creed III and continued in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Assassin’s Creed Rogue is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia along with a few other Ubisoft offices from around the world.
