The first holiday event for Call of Duty WW2 is set to kick off on December 8th, 2017. Dubbed “Winter Siege,” this event will run from December 8th until January 2nd and will offer players free content. This content includes a winter-themed multiplayer map, the introduction of the Gun Game mode, Winter Siege Supply Drops, and Double XP Playlists during the event. In addition, the Headquarters social space will be “winterized” with a new Quartermaster character visiting the zone.
Activision says that all players will have access to the Winter version of the Carentan Map during the event. This had previously been reserved for Season Pass holders or those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.
The “new” mode that will be introduced to the game is really an old favorite. Gun Game has been in previous Call of Duty titles, and it essentially pits players in a free-for-all race to get kills with different weapons in the game. It’s not entirely clear whether significant changes have been made to it for this release. It will be one of the titles in the Double XP playlist during Winter Siege.
Captain Butcher will take the role of Quartermaster during the Winter Siege event. The character will give players the opportunity to earn Winter Siege Division Uniforms, Cosmetic Items, and different weapon variants. Orders will be rotated daily as to allow players to unlock weapon variants each day. Other items will also be available for unlock during the Winter Siege by completing Collection Bounties in the game, or earned randomly through Winter Siege supply drops. Players will earn one Winter Siege Supply Drop each week for logging in during the event.
These Winter Siege Supply Drops will also be purchasable with Call of Duty Points. Â
Look for the changes to arrive on December 8th when you log-in to Call of Duty WW2.
