Chris Roberts, the man behind the Wing Commander franchise and now the most crowd funded game of all time Star Citizen, has confirmed all players will receive free in-game Rental Equipment Credits with the next release of Arena Commander.

The next release of the Arena Commander module will be launched under the new all encompassing banner of Star Citizen 1.1. Preparing for the upcoming launch of the FPS module the game is going to be streamlined under the full games name. Star Citizen 1.1 is scheduled for release this week “barring serious issues!”

The update will bring in a range of long awaited content including; “the Retaliator, the Gladius, the REC system, multiplayer free flight, improvements to the flight model, manual and automatic landings”. Although not being a visible feature the team will also be adding 64-bit floating point precision which will allow for “significantly larger maps.”

The soon to be added Rental Equipment Credits, REC, system will allow players to rent in-game ships and can be gained by playing Arena Commander. To start everyone off and to celebrate the crowd funding total reaching a colossal $75 million Chris Roberts has announced each player will receive 5,000 REC; which will be enough to “give you all some cool toys to play with!”
