Ubisoft has just released a brand new gameplay trailer for their new, upcoming social-driving game: The Crew. The trailer gives a bit more insight to how The Crew differs from existing driving game franchises like Need For Speed, Forza and Gran Turismo. Namely customization and personalizing of cars (something Need for Speed used to do) and a heavy emphasis on the social factor with playing with friends, starting crews and finishing objectives together.
Also, a seemingly ginormous map to drive on.
Granted the map can’t be, realistically, the size of the whole of the United States of America, but if nothing else, it’s ambitious.
The customization of your own cars, by itself, is already quite entertaining as you can remove the shell leaving only the chassis and engine (fully animated) huffing and puffing around. In your garage of course, not on the streets. This could turn out to be quite the driving game, although it would be interesting to see how the game prevents massive pile-ups as everyone crashes into each other on the streets of virtual USA.
