A woman says her mom insisted they move into a new apartment together, then hired movers to take only her own things and left her behind

Morgan, a TikTok creator known as @morganroos96, recently shared a video that reached millions of views detailing how she ended up living in her sister’s car. The video explains a situation where her mother insisted they move into a new apartment together, only for the mother to hire movers for her own items and leave Morgan behind.

As reported by DailyDot, living in a vehicle is a tough reality, and Morgan was open about how she arrived at this point. She spent the past four years living with her mother in secret. She felt embarrassed about her financial status, so she lied to people about living on her own. During this time, she dealt with intense depression, which led to significant weight loss.

She also faced challenges like damaged credit and a move to Australia that did not last. She tried working as a bartender and eventually started earning money from her TikTok videos. Morgan believes her mother is a narcissist who often sabotaged her attempts to become independent. She feels her mother wants her to remain incompetent and reliant on her.

They initially agreed to move into a new unit together

The housing crisis started when the pair planned to move from their old apartment to a new one. Morgan had money coming on the 15th of the month and wanted to find her own place at that time. She suggested her mother move into the new unit on the 14th instead of the first, which she thought would make the transition easier. Her mother rejected this idea and complained about the burden of helping her.

Her mother reportedly insisted they move into the new unit together. She told Morgan that once the money arrived on the 15th, she could look for a place of her own “like an adult.” The two agreed to move into the new unit together since her mother refused to stay in the old apartment for two extra weeks.

The situation changed on moving day. Morgan discovered that her mother reportedly hired movers to transport only her own belongings. When Morgan asked why her things were left behind, her mother replied, “You can figure it out. That’s what adults do, right?!”

Her mother then told her to leave the old apartment because the lease was in her name. She reportedly threatened to call the police if Morgan did not leave by a certain time. Morgan grabbed a few pieces of clothing, her contact case, and her phone charger before she left.

Viewers on TikTok offered support and shared their thoughts on the dynamic. Many people pointed out that her mother likely needs to feel in control. One commenter wrote, “Honestly, I think that she doesn’t like the idea that she was losing control over you so she was using this as a way to show you how much you need her.” Another person added, “She needs you to need her!”

Others offered words of encouragement regarding her mental health and financial path. One follower wrote, “Morgan, I have ruined my credit twice because of mental health issues and I promise you it will get better. Keep going, girl. The chat has your back.”
