Dark Souls 2 released earlier this year to much acclaim on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, along with a PC release a little while later. With the game coming so close to the end of the console generation, many have speculated whether or not we would see a “remastered” version for the next PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, like we already have with Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, and a few others. Now, a listing has popped up on the website for a major retailer for the game on both of those consoles, adding a little credence to some past rumors.
The website who has listed Dark Souls 2 for the now current-gen consoles is Tesco, the second largest retailer in the world based on profits, only behind Walmart. This British chain has had a history of selling games, so it isn’t like this is just some random website with a listing. However, some signs could point to it just being a false listing.
First of all, there is no picture for a cover attached to either version, which typically happens when games are leaked through retailers. Secondly, it has the game listed as already “released” on December 31, 2013. However, this could just be a placeholder date that was entered in the system since they did not have a set release date yet.
We will just have to wait and see if more information comes out about this one in the future. While it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see a release on the two new consoles, it’s hard to see this as confirmation quite yet.
