Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 was first announced as a PS4 and PS Vita exclusive last year and is just about ready for release in Asia in a week. For those that don’t mind waiting though, it has been revealed that a free to play version is going to be coming this summer.

Fans of the Dead or Alive series were disappointed when it was revealed that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 would not be coming to the US at all. This meant that anybody that wanted to play the game would need to import the game, which could thankfully be done pretty easily with the PS4 being region free and the Asia version being in English.

For those that may have been on the fence on whether the game would be worth importing in some fashion, a free to play version of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is going to be coming this summer to both PS4 and PS Vita according to the latest Weekly Famitsu, which has been provided by Gematsu.

This isn’t a first for the franchise, as Dead or Alive 5 did the same thing with it’s Core Fighters version that was free to play as well. This came with a limited amount of fighters, with you able to purchase further content within the game. There were no details on how it will be done with Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, but it likely will be something similar.

Also, we don’t know if this will be a Japanese exclusive or will be available in English in other Asian territories. Regardless of which, you should be able to get it digitally with a corresponding PSN account for that region. If you are interested in getting the full version of the game, look for it to release next week on March 24.
