Last month, we got our first hands-on experience with the incredibly hyped Destiny. With the official beta for the game just around the corner, more information about the game seems to be coming out daily. The latest piece of information is not about any of the actual content in the game itself, but how much space you will need to install Destiny when it releases in September, at least on PlayStation 4.
According to the official store listing for the game on the Sony Entertainment Network, specifically the Digital Guardian Edition, you will need 40 GB of free space to purchase and install the game from the PlayStation Store.
- 40 GB hard drive storage (or its equivalent) is required. Additional storage may be required for some updates and features. Storage requirements subject to change.
With game sizes this generation being so large, it really makes it seem worth it to replace the internal hard drive for one larger than the included 500 GB HDD. If you plan on sticking with your base HDD, just make sure you have enough space for the game and future updates and features like it mentions.
You can look forward to getting Destiny on September 9 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. For those planning on participating in the beta, it will be held starting on July 17 for ten days on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, with two days of maintenance mixed in there. It will also be coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 starting on July 23 for four days only. It will then officially end for all four platforms on July 27.
