Destiny PS4 Exclusive Timed Content Will Last Until At Least Fall 2015

For a little awhile now, we’ve known that PlayStation platforms would be the premier home for Destiny when it launches on September 9. After years of being a Microsoft developer, Bungie has seemingly changed allegiances to bring somewhat exclusive content to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

However, just recently an ad surfaced that said the content was a “timed exclusive” rather than the complete exclusive that we thought before. This of course spawned discussions on whether is would be short-term exclusive, like all Call of Duty DLC has been in recent years by coming to Xbox a month in advance, or if it would see much longer exclusivity.

According to the official listing for Destiny on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on Amazon, this exclusivity will be for at least the year following release. Specifically, the PlayStation 4 listing says the following:

  • “Exclusive content for PlayStation 4 owners includes the Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map, Dust Palace Strike, Weapons, Ships and Gear that will only be on PlayStation until at least Fall 2015.”

Amazon isn’t always right, but they at least generally have information correct on big releases like Destiny. We will of course have to wait for official word from Bungie, but for now it appears the timed exclusivity for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 will be lasting quite awhile. If you have both consoles and are planning on getting the game, it should be a no brainer on which to choose, unless all of your friends are getting it on Xbox One or Xbox 360.
