The tenth main installment in the Dragon Quest series is currently in the works, and while we had previously learned some information regarding the platforms it would be releasing on, the news that we’ve gotten since then has led to some confusion. While Square Enix originally said that the game would be coming to NX when it was announced, they then backtracked and said they were just considering it for the console.
However, we have good news again as producer Yosuke Saito recently spoke with Famitsu about the game where he mentions the game coming out for both PlayStation 4 and NX. He said the following: “I think there will be an influx of new players that peaks with the launch of the PS4 and NX editions. Up until then, rather than the incoming new players, we are doing our best for the people who are playing already.”
This is great news for Nintendo fans that are also into RPGs, considering that PlayStation is typically the goldmine for the genre and other platforms don’t get as many. If the recent rumors regarding the portability of the NX are true then this would be an adventure that you could play at home or on the road, which would be pretty sweet.
The official reveal of the NX is expected to happen later this year, though the console won’t officially launch until March of 2017. Recent rumors have suggested that the already-confirmed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be accompanied by Mario and Pokemon games within the first six months of the console’s launch.
