Sony has confirmed rumors that DriveClub will not be arriving at launch for the PlayStation 4. Â The racer was set to soften the blow of the newly required PlayStation Plus subscription for online play, by offering a partial version of the game, free for all.
The game is now slated for a 2014 release, but Sony did not announce a timetable for the release. Â According to Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida, “The team requires more time in order to deliver on their vision — and I’m fully confident the game will surpass your expectations.”
So what’s in store for PlayStation Plus subscribers when the PS4 launches? Â Sony is pointing to Contrast (trailer can be seen below), Â as the game that will make up for DriveClub’s absence — and a Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer demo will be available on December 28th and 29th.
DriveClub is the second high profile release to be delayed for the PlayStation 4 this week. Â Earlier, Ubisoft announced that WatchDogs would be arriving in 2014 as well.
