Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Level Scaling Detailed

by | @FanboyAttack | on January 8, 2011

In the upcoming Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the leveling system is going to be quite different than what many RPG’s use and more importantly, much different than previous Elder Scrolls games.  The traditional level grind to work your way up to access new areas and dungeons may be going bye  bye in Skyrim.

In Elder Scrolls V, enemies will scale with your character as you progress throughout the game.  A community manager from Bethesda recently touched on the subject to members over at the Elder Scrolls V forum:

“Since people are asking, wanted to briefly touch on level scaling. All our games have had some amount of randomness/leveling based on player level. Skyrim’s is similar to Fallout 3’s, not Oblivion’s,”

What exactly does this mean?  Well, if it is infact closer to Fallout 3’s level-scaling.  You will have a much more naturally progressive experience throughout the game.  Less of the traditional RPG feel, less need to grind, and more time to explore.  Sounds Great.  Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due in November 2011.
