Microsoft has not updated its Xbox One sales numbers for several months, but a recent estimate reckons that the console has sold over 18 million units so far.

As reported by VideoGamer, the 18 million estimate was revealed by Neville Upton who is the CEO of eSports company Gfinity. Estimates are the only thing we can go on since Microsoft hasn’t updated sales figures since November 2014.

The last time Sony updated its sales figures for the PS4 was back in January 2016. Back then, the console sold over 35.9 million units. It’s no doubt that unit sales would have grown since then as it’s April right now.

EA estimated that collectively, both consoles has sold over 55 million consoles worldwide. This is a healthy number as both consoles are selling at a faster rate compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation.

The landscape for console gaming could change forever if Sony and Microsoft are planning to both sell upgraded PS4 and Xbox One consoles in the near future. They will essentially offer better visuals and performance for games, but won’t be replacing the existing consoles.
