Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture developer The Chinese Room is gearing up to announce a new game, with the developer taking to Twitter to discuss the game’s upcoming announcement.
Specific details regarding the game were not given, though they claim that the announcement will happen “in the next couple of weeks.” They do reveal that the game will not have a publisher, allowing them to be more open with development. Owning the IP also lets them decide what kind of merchandise they can release, with the dev asking, “if you want t-shirts, special editions, vinyl, graphics novel, actual novel etc – let us know.”
They ended their stream of tweets regarding the next game with the following message: “Going to leave those questions floating for the night, but let us know. We get to make this one for you!”
Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture launched exclusively for the PlayStation 4 last year, garnering mostly positive reviews for its atmospheric gameplay. The lack of a publisher for The Chinese Room’s next game likely means it will be able to come to more platforms right off the bat.
Despite the game’s exclusivity to PlayStation 4, a PC version for Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture has been rumored to be in the works for a while. The Chinese Room has yet to confirm the development of the PC version, though.
