After having such a great time with the game at PAX South 2015, I felt the need to swing by and see Motiga’s Gigantic once more at PAX East 2015. While I was there, I got to try out the game again, and chat with Joe Pikop. Joe is the Lead Character Artist on the game, which will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this Fall.
If you want to get a handle on Gigantic, then Joe is the right person to talk to. A sort of mash up between first and third person shooter mechanics, and the MOBA genre, Gigantic puts a heavy focus on its characters. There are well over 15 characters in the game currently, with more possibly being added before final release. Each of these characters, or heroes, plays differently than the others.
Both times that I sat down to play Gigantic, the first step was always figuring out which hero to choose. The Community Managers would walk down the row, asking how each person liked to play games. If they wanted to do a ton of damage, but from a distance, they might push them to choose HK-206. Want to get right into the action? Try out Lord Knossos. Whatever your playstyle, there is a character to match.
Once you get into the action, how it plays out will largely depend on the character that you chose. For our previous hands-on preview from PAX South 2015 click here. There we go into greater detail on the mechanics and how the games plays out in each round.
Gigantic will be heading to both Xbox One and Windows 10 (as well as Windows 7 and 8 I would assume) this Fall. Players will actually be able to cross-play between PCs and Xbox One’s, a rarity for the usually segmented market.
