Voice actress, Ellen McLain, is apparently in the studio recording for new Portal content and a “new” game. McLain is most known for her work as GLaDOS from the Portal series as well various work from Half Life 2 and its episodes. McLain’s husband, fellow Valve voice actor John Lowrie (known for voicing the Sniper from Team Fortress 2), announced via a Twitter post that McLain was headed off to the recording studio for some work:
Ellen is going in Tuesday for a new game and more Portal work

It’s well known that Valve plans to release free DLC this summer for Portal 2, so that is most likely what this new “Portal work” is, but what could this new game be? Yes, the first thought that comes to EVERYONE’S mind is that it’s the next Half Life installment whether that be Half Life 2: Episode 3 and/or Half Life 3, but don’t forget that Valve is releasing Defense of the Ancients 2 later this year (UPDATE: it has been confirmed by Valve that DOTA 2 will be at Gamescom) so don’t go jumping on the Freeman bus just yet.
Then again, if it was DOTA 2, why wouldn’t Lowrie just say it? Curious minds want to know. However, Valve could be working on something entirely different. For instance, what the hell is this all about? Those bits of concept art could be a cancelled game, rejected art for an older game, obscure Half Life related art, or something new perhaps. None the less, what ever Mrs. McLain is doing voice over work for will probably be spectacular considering how well she crafted the GLaDOS character and the fact that Valve is so obsessed with quality. Hopefully we’ll have more information later this month at Gamescom.
