God of War dev leaves Sony Santa Monica

Stig Asmussen has left Sony Santa Monica. Asmussen is best known by fans of his work on the God of War Trilogy, where he worked in numerous capacities, including the creative director for God of War III.

Asmussen was reportedly working on a product at Sony Santa Monica that was unrelated to the God of War franchise, a project that may have been cancelled recently, according to IGN.

The terms of Asmussen’s departure from Sony are unclear, however, it is clear that when a new God of War game arrives, Asmussen’s influence will not be included.

Sony Santa Monica was recently in the news after a round layoffs sent a number of developers at the popular Sony studio looking for work in other places.
