Rockstar Games’ focus isn’t entirely on the upcoming GTA V, they’re also looking to staff up to create next-gen technology, according to a recent job posting by the company. Â Rockstar’s Scotland offices are looking for an experienced programmer who will assist in creating “cutting edge architectures and high performance systems for current and next-gen platforms.”
It looks like Rockstar will continue to focus on open world titles in the next generation as well. Â The job listing is looking for people with experience in open world games, among other qualifications. Â First up though, Rockstar North is putting the finishing touches on GTA V, which is due out in Spring of 2013 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
While Rockstar has yet to announce any of their next gen plans, there’s plenty of franchises in their catalog to draw from. Â Many expect that a next generation Red Dead Redemption could be Rockstar’s first offering on either the Xbox 720 or PlayStation 4. Â Though Rockstar faithful are still waiting on a follow-up to Bully, as well as some sign of life from Agent, which was has been disregarded as vaporware at this point.
When asked about possible sequels to their previous hits, Rockstar made a statement on the matter earlier this year.
“We don’t always rush to make sequels but that doesn’t mean we won’t get to them eventually.”
