Earlier today, 343 Industries, announced the arrival of the new infection mode coming later this month in celebration of the new patch releasing today. Along with the news of Ghosts of Meridian, they went on to reveal the beta times for the new Firefight mode, which will be officially launching this summer.

The Firefight beta, will start on April 14th and go on until the 18th, which will have eight players face off hordes of enemies on the Escape from A.R.C. mulitplayer map. As we reported earlier today, the Ghosts of Meridian pack includes two new maps, and tons of armor and weapon skins. 343 Industries described the return of the Firefight as the, “Biggest Halo cooperative mode ever”, touting the most onscreen enemies in the franchise.

I’m excited that fans will finally be getting back not only the original infection mode as seen in Halo 3, but the fan favorite Firefight mode, which I spent countless hours playing back in 2009 on Halo 3: ODST. With plans for another big patch later this summer, there is plenty still to do in Halo 5: Guardians.
