Kerbal Space Program has been acquired by Take-Two Interactive. The game, which puts players in charge of an alien space program, allowing them to build rockets, travel to other planets, explore, and generally do whatever they want, launched into Early Access in 2011 and hit final release in April 2015. Since then the game has only become more popular, with its indie developer offering great support throughout development.

According to the announcement from Squad, the makers of Kerbal Space Program, players shouldn’t expect big changes any time soon. “The important thing to know is that this big news doesn’t change much for the KSP community,” explained the dev team.

“Squad and the current development team is still here and we’re hard at work on KSP and its future updates, but now we are fortunate enough to do so with the help of an experienced publisher like Take-Two, and we couldn’t be more excited and happy to see where our conjoint collaboration will take KSP forward.”

The team is currently working on the Making History Expansion, which will be free to those who bought Kerbal Space Program on the official store or Steam before April 2013. The rest of us will have to pay for the DLC, which brings a bunch of new content to the experience.

Kerbal Space Program is also available on consoles, with a big free update planned to hit PS4 and Xbox One soon.
