With Hideo Kojima now making games on his own, Konami has responded back by advertising a new job position that is for the next Metal Gear Solid game.
If you visit the official Konami website, there is a huge banner that says: “Now Recruiting NEW METAL GEAR Development Staff“. The all capitals were written by Konami emphasising they are not done with the franchise.
Another blurb says: “We are now recruiting a wide range of highly-skilled game development professionals who wish to work with us on the creation of “NEW METAL GEAR”
The qualifications you need are: “Experience in high-end game development, planning, etc. Boundless imagination, and the capacity for exciting new ideas. A strong passion toward game creation. The communication skills to effectively communicate your ideas”
Konami is planning on going ahead with new Metal Gear games, but obviously Hideo Kojima will not be involved. It’s possible they could reboot the franchise.
Konami has mentioned in the past that the series will still be a proper AAA video game franchise. We’ll just have to wait and see what they have in store.
As for Hideo Kojima, his new game will be made in collaboration with Sony and will be released as a console exclusive for PS4.
