Madden 16 Top Defensive Ends Light It Up

by Dean James

The first pre-season NFL game is only a little over a week away and that means we are getting ever closer to the release of Madden 16. After releasing the top players from the offensive side of the ball and we started with the linebackers, so now it’s time to move onto the defensive line with the top defensive ends.

You know you’re starting off well when you begin with arguably the best player in the entire league. JJ Watt has been a force of nature for the Texans for a number of years now and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs at all of slowing down, hence the 99 OVR rating.

With a three point drop behind Watt is Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson, who is known for his incredibly block shedding, making him a big part of that Jets defense.

The Seahawks have had one of the most dominant defenses as of recent and Michael Bennett is one of the key reasons for that with his 95 OVR. Dominating and getting to the quarterback with ease, Bennett is one of the strongest defensive ends around.

Right on par with Bennett with a 95 OVR, Cardinals Calais Campbell is now the king of the Cardinals defense. Ranked as one of the fastest at his position with incredible Pursuit, he is not one that offenses want to have to deal with.

Lastly, we have Cameron Wake from the Miami Dolphins with a 94 OVR. His 96 Power Move is going to give opposing offensive linemen nightmares in Madden 16.

EA Sports has also provided more detail breakdowns of each of the top five, which you can see below.

The two-time Defensive Player of the Year boasts a game-best 99 Power Move rating, as well as 98 Pursuit, 97 Strength, 97 Tackle and 97 Block Shedding. As if that wasn’t enough, his three touchdown receptions in 2014 earned him a 78 Catch rating as well.

Wilkerson is looking for a new contract with talented rookie Leonard Williams now on the scene. The three-time All-Pro brings 94 Strength, 97 Block Shedding, and 93 PWM/96 TAK/96 PUR.

Bennett is one of the keys to the Seahawks’ dominant defense. He’s strong across the board and features 91 STR/91 TAK/94 PWM.

With Darnell Dockett moving to San Francisco, Campbell takes center stage on the tough Cardinals defense. He’s a huge man with amazing speed, shown by his 87 Strength, 85 Block Shedding, 92 Tackle, and 94 Pursuit.

Wake should be even more productive with the addition of dominant defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Wake starts Madden NFL 16 with an outstanding 96 Power Move and 76 STR/79 TAK/93 PUR.
