Following last week‘s announcement that confirmed the existence of Mafia III, 2K have now given us our first look at the game in the worldwide reveal trailer.
An excerpt reads: “It’s 1968 and the rules have changed. After years in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: Family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for.”
A gorgeous looking CG trailer shows off the seemingly vengeful Clay, who monologues about the importance of family. No gameplay is shown, but an unsuspecting man, who I can safely assume is an adversary to Clay, gets a hefty beating.
It’s been five years since the release of Mafia II, which followed the story of 1950’s American gangsters. A short glimpse at Mafia III emanates a totally different vibe. Gone are the sharply dressed mafia-men, instead replaced by an orphaned war veteran. A shift in tone would come as somewhat of a surprise, with many fans expecting the series to follow in the footsteps of its predecessors.
We’ll hopefully know more about Mafia III in the coming months, but you can expect the full game to release sometime in 2016.
