Marvel Vs Capcom 3 No Spectator Mode at Launch

by William Schwartz

If there’s one thing that I love about modern fighting games, it’s spectator mode.  It was recently announced that Marvel Vs Capcom 3 will not include this option, at launch at least.  The game will feature player vs player action up to 8 people in all, but the other lobby members will not be able to see what’s going on on-screen while they wait for their turn to play.

After Dead or Alive 4 included this option in their game years ago when it launched, I figured this would be a staple for modern fighting games.  One of those things that once experienced, all fighting game fans would expect in games down the road.

While it’s certainly not a deal breaker for me, but I can’t think of a bigger downer to get just days before the release.  It’s bad enough that you have to wait for 6 rounds in between turns to play you match if you lose, now you have to wait 6 rounds while doing nothing.
