A fan had been in development for a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid video game. It was being built with Unreal Engine 4 and looked pretty great. However, the project has now been cancelled.
The Shadow Moses Facebook page announced: “We have an important announcement to make today: We have to cancel the Shadow Moses Project for reasons beyond our control. We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we have received.”
The game was initially just going to concentrate on the first part of Metal Gear Solid, however the fan got ambitious and wanted to remake the whole thing. The fan even released a trailer for the remake and hoped to have revealed more things later this year.
Although Shadow Moses didn’t specify a reason for the cancellation, it’s pretty obvious that Konami stepped in and stopped the project altogether. Konami owns the rights to the IP and nobody else is allowed to make a video game on the Metal Gear franchise apart from them. Even Hideo Kojima is moving on to make something new and different.
The first trailer for the now cancelled remake can be seen below. It was viewed by nearly 1 million people on YouTube.
