Minecraft has an official release date for the PlayStation 3. The game will arrive on December 17th, and will mark Minecraft’s first appearance on the console.
The port of the popular PC building game, is being done by 4J Studios. This is the same developer who is working on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Minecraft will also be arriving on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita at a later date. No specifics were given, but those waiting on a next-gen version of the game will have to wait until sometime in 2014 for Minecraft: PS4 Edition and Minecraft: PS Vita Edition.
Buyers of the Minecraft: PS3 Edition won’t be waiting for a slew of updates to bring the game up to speed with the Xbox 360 version. A recent developer update says that it should be on par with the Xbox version from day one, and will be developed in tandem going forward.
