Naughty Dog Hopes Uncharted 4 Will Have A Smooth Launch

by Damian Seeto

Naughty Dog is hoping Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will have a smooth launch when it comes out later this year.

2014 was a pretty bad year for AAA games with the likes of Driveclub, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Halo: The Master Chief Collection having technical issues on launch. Another annoying part are the huge patches that have had to be released to fix those games too.

Game Informer recently interviewed Naughty Dog’s co-presidents, Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra more about the development of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Naughty Dogs feels the pain of gamers and mentioned they would rather ship Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as a “polished game” first. Balestra said it’ll be hard on the staff working on the game too. If the game has bugs post launch, the staff will have to work extra hours to smooth everything out.

Balestra also mentioned it’ll be annoying for players to wait for a huge 20GB patch to download before they can play the game. He was blunt and described that it “would suck“. He said this won’t be the best experience, so he’s hoping Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End would be playable from day one.

Let’s hope Naughty Dogs stays true to their word and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is shipped without a huge day one patch and is bug free.
