The Last of Us will arrive later this summer, exclusively on the PlayStation 3. Though recent domain filings could suggest that Sony is already committing to a multi-game franchise deal for Naughty Dog’s unreleased and unproven title.
Domain registrations for The Last of Us 2 and The Last of Us 3 have been discovered by Kotaku, but that doesn’t 100% guarantee that these games are being made by Naughty Dog. It could just be Sony covering their bases in the event that the upcoming game warrants a sequel.
But why wouldn’t it? Since the announcement of The Last of Us, it’s been nothing but great press for Naughty Dog and this new game. They’ve proven to handle franchises well with the wildly popular Uncharted series managing to stay fresh while offering up a trilogy of games this generation.
Will The Last of Us do the same? It looks like it, but we’ll have to wait and see the finished product when The Last of Us arrives on the PlayStation 3 in June.
