We’re getting closer and closer to the release of virtual reality gaming, though it remains to be seen which new device will come out on top in the race for VR dominance. However, a new survey from the Game Developers Conference revealed that the Oculus Rift has been the most popular with developers so far.
Nearly 20 percent of all developers surveyed claimed that they were currently developing a game for the Oculus Rift. Gear VR, HTC Vive, Google Cardboard, PlayStation VR and HoloLens all had under 10% in the survey, with percentages going from high to low in the order listed above.
A similar picture is painted when it comes to the interest developers have when developing for a VR device, as the Oculus Rift comes out on top again at 40% in the survey. However, this time PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and HoloLens are all neck-and-neck with around 25%.
It’s also worth noting that there are still a chunk of developers who claim they are not developing for any VR device and even go as far as to say they are not interested in doing so. Both surveys say around 20% of the developers said that they are not interested in developing a VR game.
